These photos are close up images of oil and water. They were taken with a Canon 400D camera, and the set up was a clear bucket full of water with sunflower oil on the surface.

These close up images allow us to see the details and light refractions created within each tiny bubble on the waters surface, creating almost bacterial images.

OIL DROPLETS IN WATER

This image is split into halves, the left side is lighter and has less going on, whereas the right side is darker and has more bubbles within it. It is black and white so their is more contrast in the reflections of the bubbles

This image is in black and white, this allows there to be more contrast between the dark background and the light reflections from the small bubbles.

The outer edges on this photo are darker than the center, creating almost a vignette on the image. This photo is in black and white to increase the contrast of the small reflections of light on the bubbles

There are two larger, darker and less detailed bubbles in the top left, and bottom right corners, and this leads our eyes to the center of the image. The center is also lighter, leading our eyes to the subject of the images, which is the cluster of smaller bubbles
